Grenache Blanc Fifille and The Bluffer Robles Valdiguié

This morning when I walked into work, to my surprise, there was a bag in my seat. I had no clue what could have possibly been in the bag, or why it was in my seat, because truthfully, I hardly to talk anyone at work. So seeing a gift at my desk was definitely a shock. When I opened the bag, there were three bottles of wine with a note attached that read, "Forgot to bring this earlier today. I got another shipment of wine club goodies and thought you'd might enjoy."

A week prior, the members of my department met at Rebecca's house because she was in charge of hosting our "book club" meeting. I didn't sign up to be in anybody's damn book club, but it's for the team, right? Well, we all headed separately to her house, arriving at different times. Myself and another co-worker were the first ones to arrive, and if you know me even just a little, you know that I am always on time to the functions. It's just how I roll.

Rebecca lives in the cutest neighborhood close to downtown Columbus called German Village, and her home was the perfect place to host a small gathering. I really wish I would have taken my camera with me to take photos of her set up because it truly felt like I was literally in a wine bar. She had every kind of wine, beer, and liquor that you could possibly want, and wasn't stingy with the goods. Since it was Wednesday, I didn't want to go overboard, but I definitely enjoyed a few glasses of Grenache Blanc. This wine, in my opinion is really good, and packs a punch, with an alcohol volume of 15%. As soon as she saw my glass almost empty, she poured more. She poured and I drank. Sh must have sensed how much I enjoyed it, because she brought two of these bottles in the office for me.

She also added this bottle of red to the bag. I have never tried this one before, but I'm really looking forward to it! I love trying new wines. This particular grape - the Valdiguie - is not very well known because southern France is the only place where it is grown other than California. It is described as fruity, fresh, and light-weight. Yum! This baby is packing 14% alcohol by volume, so it's no punk either.
