Gratitude

When I have downtime, I find myself pondering over a lot of things. Currently, it's gratitude. As humans, we tend to take a lot of things for granted. We get so caught up in the day-to-day hustle and bustle, that we don't stop to take the time to give thanks for the little things, which technically, AREN'T so little.

I realize that I may not have everything I want, but I have everything I need. As I look around my apartment, I am thankful that I have a cozy place to call my own, because there are a lot of people who do not. I don't think I give myself enough credit when it comes to the things that I've been able to achieve. Everything that I have is a result of being responsible and hard-working, and I'm damn proud of that. I'm still not where I want to be, but I know what it will take to get there. Fearlessness, assertiveness, consistency, hard work, and perhaps an outlook adjustment.

I'm so grateful to be employed, and although I'm not working my dream job, I'm right where I am supposed to be at this stage in my life. I have to remind myself of this, or else I'll go crazy. When you think about it, being thankful is actually good for you. It allows you to be optimistic when you aren't particularly feeling that way, and of course, when you look at the glass as half full, you're less likely to walk around angry at the world, and stressed out for no good reason.

Being grateful, and focusing on the good things in your life will open your world up to new and unexpected possibilities. It will also remove a bit of burden because you're constantly focusing on those things that you are thankful for, even in bad situations.
