2016 has been the year of iconic celebrity deaths. It all started at the very top of the year with the death of Natalie Cole, and from there, it just went downhill. We've lost so many greats. So many. If you're a child of the 70s and 80s, then Carrie Fisher was probably a major part of your fabric. I loved watching the Star Wars franchise as a child; in fact, it was one of my favorite movies growing up. I have vivid memories of sitting in front of the television with my siblings, whom, to this day, are still the biggest Star Wars fanatics ever. Such nostalgia.
Carrie suffered a heart attack last week on a flight to LA, just a few minutes prior to landing. I was really hoping she would pull through. Today, a spokesperson confirmed her death to People Magazine. She passed away at 8:55 this morning. What a tremendous loss.
Rest in peace, Carrie Fisher. May the force forever be with you.
