Let's Catch Up: Favorites & Things.

"If we could make our house a home, and then make it a sanctuary, I think we could truly find paradise on Earth." - Alexandra Stoddard

Lately, I've been so consumed with personal business that I haven't really been super inspired to publish a blog post; however, not to fear, I have not forgotten about this baby. In fact, I log in here every single day (fun little fact). I enjoy admiring all the work I've put into it so far. I remember when I officially started this blog; I was at my friend's house in Michigan. It was Labor Day weekend 2016, and I had been debating back and forth with myself about whether or not I wanted to dedicate the time to creating this style of blog again (having a Tumblr is one thing, but actually buying a domain name and carving out my very own small piece of the web just for me is a different ball game).

Maintaining a blog can be challenging, but only if you let it. I have to remind myself that I run this show, and although I'd LOVE to post two to three times a day (I really would love that), I shouldn't feel pressured to do so, or frustrated when I'm having writer's block and simply can't find the words. It happens. But I am happy that I have enough content now to where I won't feel like it's a ghost town around these parts if I go missing a few days. Nothing makes me more sad than when a blog I enjoy visiting is abandoned.

When it comes to blogging, the inspiration will find you when it needs to, especially when you're running a blog by yourself. Don't force it.

Back to the personal business, yes. Those things. Preparing my taxes, and trying to cope with the fact that I didn't get anywhere near the amount I was used to getting back, but still remaining grateful (I guess). Getting mentally prepared to cover a young lady on my team at work when she goes out on maternity leave, and dreading all of the extra work I will have to begin doing for the next few months. Getting a new car. Entertaining one of my good friends who came to visit this past weekend, which, by the way, was nice. They only stayed for a night, but sometimes, that's all you need, especially when you live away from your hometown. It's nice to have a piece of home with me while I'm in Columbus. It's always funny when I have visitors because I have to give them the house rules. "No sitting in that cream leather Barcelona chair; that's for decorative purposes only, and don't sit your glass (or anything for that matter) on my acrylic coffee table; it scratches easily, and please do not sit on my white comforter." It's enough to make friends wish they had floating powers so that they could just levitate through the damn place. I'm sorry. I'm really anal about certain things. My friend touched the cream Barcelona chair, and I just about died on the inside. I tried to keep calm, but in my head, I was yelling, "I don't even touch the leather, so YOU DEFINITELY can't!"

Let's talk current favorites.

I'm always discovering new blogs, or falling back in love with old ones, and I thought I'd share a couple of them with you, along with some other favorites from around the web!

The Lazy Yogi. I don't even know how I found this Tumblr account, but I instantly took a liking to it. I love skimming through it and taking something away from it when I need that bit of calmness.

Deun Ivory. Deun is an amazing photographer, illustrator, and blogger, and I stumbled upon her Instagram page one day and fell in love with her aesthetic + her work. She creates these awesome illustrations of women being the Goddesses we are, and honestly, I want them all. Some of my absolute favorites:
Spicy Mayo. Another lovely young lady whose site I stumbled upon, and loved the simplicity of it. I really just love women who have these personal spaces online to share their journey (and inspirations) with the world. It's a pretty dope thing.

JChavae. I think it's pretty fucking admirable when one is able to put themselves completely out there, unapologetically, and without shame. Shit gets real. I appreciate her transparency. You never know who you're helping when you share your story, your struggles. This blog is a melting pot of things, and I've been enjoying reading it.

Garance. An oldie but goodie. I've been a fan of this blog for 10 years. I love it because it's pretty much everything rolled into one - personal thoughts, beauty, style, interviews with her famous friends, lifestyle, and beautiful visuals (I mean, she's a photographer and illustrator as well). I always check out her blog when I need that push to just keep going with mine, even if it's just for myself.

Herz und Blut.Warning: this blog is not in English, but if you're really curious to know what they're talking about, you can always have Google translate it, which is really just the click of a link. I don't discriminate. I love all blogs. The imagery caught my eye with this one. So perfectly curated.

My love/hate relationship with Instagram still remains, but I'm really good at only viewing content that inspires me, and makes me truly see the world through that person's eyes. Here are four of my current favorite accounts:

So many favorites this go round. I would suck if I didn't share them with you all.
