I know, I know, I'm a tad bit late to the Snoh party. It's fine. I'm here now. What rock have I been hiding under? Listen, I'm super heavy into music, old and new, but I am not sure how this one stayed hidden from me for as long as she did. When I find out about new artists, it's usually always by accident, but it's always something about their art that, in that moment, instantly moves me, and it becomes a case of love at first listen. That was the case with Stockholm, Sweden-born Snoh Aalegra. If Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill had a baby, she would be it. Big thanks to Jax for randomly tweeting out, "Snoh Aalegra's 'Under The Influence.' Just press play." And that's what the hell I did.

Her 'Don't Explain' EP features help from the likes of James Fauntleroy and a lead guitar feature from John Mayer on Under The Influence. Her vocals are very reminiscent of Amy Winehouse - that bluesy, soulful vibe, but with a pinch more grittiness, if that's even possible. She even resembles Amy, which is even more ironic. Snoh will be releasing a full project next year, and I am definitely excited to hear more from her. I'm tuned it, Snoh. I am tuned in.
You can listen to her 2016 EP 'Don't Explain' here.
